Description: During this course, we will seek to understand the benefits of sustainable farming over traditional agriculture. Students will be able to evaluate the social, economic, and environmental impacts associated with both sustainable and traditional practices. Students in this course will acquire knowledge of sustainable farming through field experiences, engineering challenges, and cultivating their own crops. We will study concepts such as: composting, soil properties, organic crops, and other farming and agriculture practices. This course is a hands-on and experiential course focused on the principle of creating a more sustainable future. There is also a culinary component built into the class using what is grown at the Liberty Prairie Farm.
